Tiverton Harriers athletic club meet at the Heathcoat Factory in Tiverton, back in the 19th century, John Heathcoat came to the old market town of Tiverton, Devon from a place near Derby to start the Milling industry in the South West, with the mill’s coming to Tiverton and with the history behind the Canal and the market, this put Tiverton on the map. Then they built the railway through Tiverton all these things started to bring people to the town expanding it, with some of the people living here, forming The Tiverton Harriers c’ 1914 one of the 1st athletic clubs around Mid Devon if not the 1st. In 1946 on the 22 April they had the 1st Bampton to Tiverton race with only 27 competitors now the race limit is about 250.
